This week I’m taking a closer look at the basslines on “Red Clay” by Freddie Hubbard. Ron Carter played bass on the original 1970 recording. Jack Wilkins made a trio recording in 1973 with Michael Moore on bass. And A Tribe Called Quest sampled the Jack Wilkins recording in 1993.
